The Swiss Graduate Program FoMICS "Foundations in Mathematics and Informatics for Computer Simulations in Science and Engineering”, led by the Institute of Computational Science (ICS) at the Università della Svizzera italiana in Lugano, is pleased to announce that the first FoMICS prize for PhD students was held during the PASC17 conference in Lugano. The committee had the arduous task of choosing the best contribution among a series of excellent talks. In the end, a total of three awards was given:
- Prize for Natural sciences to Axel Huebl (Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf, TU Dresden)
- Prize for Numerical methods to Markus Huber (TU Munich)
- Prize for Life sciences to Heeju Noh (ETH Zurich)
The winners will be invited to spend a week at the Università della Svizzera italiana in Lugano. The second edition of the FoMICS prize will take place at PASC18 in Basel.
